White Hall, Arkansas
is a town located in Jefferson County in the southeastern part of the state, just off Interstate 530, about 8 miles north of Pine Bluff and 32 miles south of Little Rock. White Hall (two words) should not be confused with at least three other small towns in the state of the same name, but spelled Whitehall (one word.) White Hall is a lovely, peaceful community where many of the residents’ families have lived for generations. Many other people have relocated to the town to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal or one of the many other companies located at the Jefferson County Industrial Park. The estimated population of White Hall in 2005 was 5,114 residents. The town has a low crime rate, excellent schools, lots of outdoor recreational opportunities, new shopping venues and plenty of good restaurants. It is called “one of the fastest growing communities in Arkansas.” Agriculture is also a mainstay of White Hall, with Jefferson County being located in the heart of a rich agricultural region called the Arkansas River Basin. The major products of the area include cotton, soybeans, rice, cattle, poultry and catfish.
White Hall offers many recreational opportunities for visitors and residents, such as fishing and boating on the Arkansas River and in many lakes and streams in the area. Some of the best bass fishing in the state is found in the White Hall area, with Jefferson County being host to some 30-35 tournaments each year. In fact, the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park boasts the nickname “Bass Capital of the World.” White Hall City Park offers a tennis court, walking trails, picnicking and baseball fields. The town of White Hall is also home to a very interesting museum that is well worth the visit, and a wide variety of other attractions are within an hour’s drive of White Hall. Some of these include the Arts and Science Center and Entertainers Hall of Fame in Pine Bluff, golf at Harbor Oaks, the Jefferson County Historical Museum, Band Museum and the Arkansas Railroad Museum. Nearby, the city of Little Rock offers ballet, the symphony, sporting events such as football, hockey and baseball. Other attractions in Little Rock include the Central High Museum and Visitor Center, Children's Museum of Arkansas, the Little Rock Zoo, the Museum of Discovery, the Old State House Museum, the Wild River Country Water Park, and Willow Springs Water Park and much more. In addition to all this, there are numerous National and State Parks within a one to three-hour drive of White Hall (please see our “Attractions” category for more information.)
